Sean Hogan

Managing Director,
Head of Principal Investment Area

Sean joined Goldman Sachs in 2002. Sean is a Managing Director of the firm with responsibility for the Principal Investment Area.

Prior to taking up the position as Head of PIA, Sean co-lead the firm’s efforts in the Capital Products business which incorporates Goldman Sachs’ debt capital markets, structured financing, leveraged finance and equity linked business. Sean became an Equity Partner of Goldman Sachs in 2006.

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Sean was Head of Structured Finance and Securitisation at SG Australia focusing on securitisation and asset financing. Sean had also previously held positions with Westpac Banking Corporation in Treasury and Institutional Banking, having commenced a career in finance with Citibank.

Before entering a career in finance, Sean was an officer in the Royal Australian Navy.

Sean holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales.

Sam Agnew

Chief Operating Officer

Sam joined Goldman Sachs in 2000. He is currently both Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Principal Investment Area.

Sam originally joined Goldman Sachs in Europe and worked in a number of roles, namely as Chief Financial Officer within the European Investment Banking Division during the period of 2005 to 2008.

Sam qualified as a Chartered Accountant whilst working for Goldman Sachs. Sam also holds a Bachelors degree as well as a Masters of Science from the City University Business School in London.

Joe Dowd

Executive Director

Joe Dowd is an Executive Director in the Goldman Sachs Principal Investment Area. He has over 17 years of private equity, mezzanine and leveraged debt, corporate finance and other financial experience. Joe is also a member of the Private Equity Fund Investment Committee.

Joe joined Goldman Sachs in 2002, initially working in the Private Equity team. He is currently a member of the Mezzanine team and also has executive responsibility for the Private Equity Fund. Prior to joining the firm, Joe worked in transaction services, corporate advisory and business valuations with PricewaterhouseCoopers in both Sydney and London, where he qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Economics from Southampton University, England.

Kuek Chin

Director

Kuek Chin joined the Mezzanine team at Goldman Sachs in 2007 and has previous experience in debt capital markets supporting the private equity market and financial services.

Before joining the firm, Kuek was with the leveraged finance team at BOS International (the commercial lending division of HBOS Australia), and before that with the Reserve Bank of Australia.

Kuek holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours in Finance) from the University of Western Australia. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, and is a CFA charterholder.

James Chia

Associate Director

James joined Goldman Sachs in 2009. His principal role is to assist in the sourcing, evaluation, execution and oversight of private equity investments.

Before joining the firm, James spent two and a half years with Macquarie Capital (the investment banking division of Macquarie Group) advising clients on a range of transactions in the consumer and financial sponsor sectors.

James holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) degree majoring in Economics and Finance from the University of Western Australia.

Lorna Pinto

Associate

Lorna Pinto joined the Goldman Sachs Principal Investment Area in July 2009 as an Associate.

Before joining the firm, Lorna worked for Gresham Partners Limited as Fund Accountant. Prior to that, Lorna worked in the finance departments at MMC Asset Management Limited and Platinum Asset Management Limited.

Lorna holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Macquarie University, Sydney and is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
