Private Equity
Our private equity activities are undertaken by an experienced team of executives based in Sydney, with full coverage of the Australasian region.
Goldman Sachs manages three late-stage, private equity funds, Hauraki No.1 (raised 2001), Hauraki No.2 (2004), and our latest fund, the Goldman Sachs Trans-Tasman Private Equity Fund 07 (2007) which closed with A$415 million of investor commitments.
We offer our investment and investing partners the following unique set of benefits.
Our investors rely on our ability to build strong, long-term relationships, to source attractive investments, and to maximise returns. Our investment partners include a number of pre-eminent private equity groups as well as leading corporations, which can bring unique, strategic elements to opportunities. Together with these partners, we commit resources to help build companies that will achieve and retain market leadership positions.
We provide access to the resources and expertise of Goldman Sachs to our business partners and portfolio companies. These capabilities include sophisticated financial advice in public and private market financings, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, investment and economic research, trading, foreign exchange, and commodities. Furthermore, we leverage relationships with companies, individuals and governments throughout Australasia that can be important in structuring and operating successful business ventures.
Our broad access to financing and capital markets, combined with our established relationships and Goldman Sachs' sponsorship, enables us to take a creative approach to structuring attractive investments. These advantages allow us to consider a broad set of investment opportunities and develop customised solutions that maximise both the success of our portfolio companies and the potential returns to our investors.
Our investments are designed to support the company's long-term goals and to build value. We believe that management is most qualified to run the day-to-day business and we assist by actively participating in the boards of our portfolio companies. In addition, we take an active role in supporting management and in providing additional resources and capital to assist our portfolio companies.
