Australian Equities
Dion Hershan — MBA, BCom, BA
Head of Australian Equities Dion joined the Asset Management division in July 2007 as Head of Australian Equities. He is responsible for managing the Australian equities team and the equities investment process. Dion transitioned into this role from the Proprietary Trading area of the firm where he commenced in 2006.
Prior to this, Dion spent a number of years in New York as a Fund Manager at Citadel Investment Group where he managed a long/short portfolio. Previously he worked as an Analyst and Fund Manager for Boston-based Fidelity Investments, where he was responsible for managing a diversified fund. Before moving to the US, Dion worked at Boston Consulting Group where he undertook financial and quantitative analysis, project and client account management.
Dion has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School, New York.

Katie Hudson — BCom, ACA
Senior Investment Manager Katie joined the firm in August 2008 as a Senior Investment Manager in the Australian equities team. As a generalist in the team, she is involved with formal peer review and portfolio construction for our funds and works closely with the broader Asset Management team to further enhance client relationships.
Katie has over 10 years’ experience in investment markets, including roles as an equities research analyst and individual managed account portfolio adviser. Before joining the firm, Katie worked at JM Financial Group on their individual managed account portfolios and at AR Capital where she was involved with investment strategy. Prior to this she was a member of the research department at Goldman Sachs. In her role as an equities analyst at Goldman Sachs, Katie had responsibility for stocks across a broad range of sectors including industrials, healthcare, small cap, alcohol and transport.
Katie’s experience also includes seven years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked as a senior manager focused on M&A work. Katie holds a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Melbourne and has qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Matthew Rey — MFin, BA, LLB
Senior Investment Manager Matthew joined the firm in October 2007 as a Senior Investment Manager in the Australian equities team.
Matthew has over eight years’ experience in investment markets, including roles as an equities research analyst and equities portfolio manager. Prior to his current role, he worked at AMP Capital as a Portfolio Manager for the Sustainable Future Australian Share Fund. He also held the position of Equities Analyst at William Noall, before moving into an equities research consulting role with Tolhurst Noall.
Matthew has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Law from Monash University and a Master of Finance from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

Geoff Frankish — BA (Ec) (Hons)
Senior Investment Manager, Head of Infrastructure
Geoff joined the firm in March 2003 and is responsible for analysing utilities and infrastructure stocks. He also has responsibility for managing the Goldman Sachs Australian Infrastructure Wholesale Fund.
Prior to his current role, Geoff was an Equities Research Analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. Previously, he worked for the Victorian government in a variety of senior financial and operational roles. With extensive experience in government and academia, Geoff has had significant involvement with utility reforms in gas, electricity, water and transport. He played a significant role in the restructuring of Victorian energy utilities prior to their ultimate privatisation and was involved in developing and negotiating the accompanying regulatory arrangements.
Since 1996, Geoff has been involved in researching equities within the infrastructure and utilities sector at a time of its unprecedented growth arising from both asset trade sales and initial public offerings. Earlier in his career, Geoff was Visiting Research Fellow at The University of Melbourne, specialising in resources development, after having worked as an economist and econometrician in industry.
Geoff holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) (Honours) from Macquarie University.

Chris Driessen — BBus
Investment Manager Chris joined in the firm in January 2005 and is responsible for analysing resources stocks and industrial stocks in the engineering, contracting, equipment hire and commercial services sectors.
Prior to this, Chris undertook internships at Queensland Treasury Corporation and the Bank of Queensland.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Business from Queensland University of Technology.

Edward Waller — BCom, BAgSc
Dealer/Portfolio Analyst
Ed joined the firm in February 2007. He is responsible for the execution of trades across the Australian equities, real estate and infrastructure portfolios. Ed also assists with portfolio construction and researching securities.
Previously, Ed worked as a Research Analyst at Adviser Edge Investment Research where he analysed managed investment scheme projects across a broad range of agricultural industries.
Ed holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from The University of Melbourne.

Michael Steele— BCom, BAgSc
Portfolio Analyst
Michael joined the firm in February 2008. He is responsible for analysing retail, gaming, agriculture, food and beverage sectors within the Australian equities team.
Prior to joining the firm, Michael undertook internships at Suncorp Metway and CowBank.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (First Class Honours) from The University of Melbourne.

Marcus Ryan — BCom., BEng
Portfolio Analyst
Marcus joined the firm in January 2006. He is responsible for research and analysis of real estate and insurance securities within the Australian equities team.
Prior to joining, Marcus undertook an internship at BlueScope Steel. Marcus holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Materials) and a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University.

Mark Jones —BSc, MTech
Portfolio Analyst
In his role of Portfolio Analyst, Mark works with both the quantitative and fundamental equity teams. He undertakes stock research and financial modelling for the infrastructure and utilities sector and is involved in developing and maintaining our systems infrastructure, attribution analysis of performance and analysis of risk in portfolios for the Quantitative Analysis team.
Prior to joining the Asset Management division in December 2008, Mark worked within the as a Senior Developer in the Securities group. Before joining the firm in January 2007, Mark held a number of senior software development roles with firms such as UBS and NAB.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Science from the Australian National University and a Master of Technology from RMIT University.

Fixed Income and Multi-Sector
Subash Pillai — MBA, BCom(Hons), BA, G DipAppFin, AFMA
Head of Fixed Income and Multi-Sector
Subash heads our Fixed Income and Multi-Sector team and has been with the firm since 1998. He has investment management responsibility for our cash, fixed interest and multi-sector portfolios. Subash is also Client Portfolio Manager for the Goldman Sachs Asset Management Global Liquidity Management team supporting the distribution of liquidity product across a range of currencies in Asia.
Before joining the Asset Management business, Subash worked in the Capital Markets and Treasury division of Goldman Sachs as part of a team with debt trading, risk management, funds management and capital management responsibilities. Before joining the organisation, Subash worked at National Australia Bank in foreign exchange trading and sales.
Subash gained an MBA from Melbourne Business School in 2006. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University. Subash is accredited by the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA).

Angus Bell — BSc (Phys), GradDipAppFin, SDIA
Investment Manager - Fixed Income and Multi-Sector
Angus is a member of the Fixed Income and Multi-Sector investment team and is responsible for analysing macro-economic activity in Australia and internationally and focuses on the portfolio management and ongoing research for our multi-asset strategies — Income Plus and Diversified Growth. Angus is also a member of the Asset Allocation Committee.
Angus joined the firm in 2005. Before his current role, Angus worked as an Analyst in the Adviser Service team.
Angus holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy). Angus is accredited by the Securities and Derivatives Industry Association (SDIA).

Sabriyah Denham — BCom(Hons)/BA
Investment Manager - Fixed Income and Multi-Sector
Sabriyah is a member of the Fixed Income and Multi-Sector investment team and plays a key role in managing the Goldman Sachs A$ Cash Reserves Fund and the Goldman Sachs Core Plus Australian Fixed Income Fund.
Sabriyah has been with the firm since February 2007. Prior to joining the investment team, Sabriyah was a Research Analyst in the Distribution team, managing research house and consultant relationships across our complete product range. Before joining the firm, Sabriyah worked at ANZ in their Derivative Operations team.
Sabriyah holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Finance from the University of Melbourne and is a Level II Candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

Hybrids
Roy Keenan — BBus (Acc)
Head of Hybrids
Roy joined the firm in 1992, moving into the Asset Management division in 2008. He has been part of the investment management team for the Goldman Sachs Enhanced Income Funds since the Funds’ inception in 2002.
Roy has over 24 years’ investment experience both in asset management and trading. Prior to his current role, he worked within the firm’s security division as a price maker/trader in government and corporate bonds and from 1997 served as Head of the Fixed Income Desk where he specialised in broking and trading high yield products. Since 1995, Roy has specialised in credit products.
Prior to this, Roy worked for four years in the Investment Management Division of the State Insurance Office. In 1988 Roy moved to the Treasury Corporation of Victoria and specialised in liability management of debt products, both domestically and offshore.
He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from Swinburne University, Melbourne.

Quantitative Equities
Greg Hall — BAppSc, GradDipAppFin, FFin
Head of Quantitative Products Greg joined the firm in June 1999. In his role as Head of Quantitative Products, Greg is responsible for the portfolio management of the Australian Quantitative Investment Strategies portfolios run out of Melbourne and assists in research of the Australian models.
Prior to this, Greg was Associate Director, Quantitative Analysis with Schroder Investment Management. He has also held quantitative analyst roles at the Treasury Corporation of Victoria, Colonial Mutual Life and Regal Life.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physics and Applied Mathematics from Monash University. He has also completed the Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Alvin Tan — CFA, BEc (Hons), PhD (Econometrics)
Manager, Quantitative Analysis
Alvin joined the firm in March 2008. His role as Manager, Quantitative Analysis focuses on adding value to our investment process by applying quantitative techniques to stock selection, portfolio construction and asset allocation. He is also involved in the research of the Australian model used in the Quantitative Investment Strategies’ portfolios.
Before joining the firm, Alvin spent over three years as a Vice President, Quantitative Analyst in the Fixed Income Group at AllianceBernstein in Melbourne. Prior to that Alvin held positions with Macquarie Funds Management and the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Alvin is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a Bachelor of Economics with First Class Honours and a PhD in Econometrics from Monash University.
